HSK Level 6: Test Structure, Content and Score Report

HSK Level 6 is the highest‑level test of the New Chinese Proficiency Test. It corresponds to Level 5 of the International Chinese Language Proficiency Standards and CEF C2. Test‑takers are expected to master 5000+ commonly‑used Chinese words.

Candidates who pass HSK 6 can easily comprehend complex Chinese audio and written materials, and express opinions fluently both orally and in writing. They are capable of handling advanced scenarios including academic study, professional work, newspaper reading and Chinese media appreciation.

Test Format

There are 101 items in total. The full test lasts about 140 minutes including personal‑information filling time.

1. Listening (50 items, ~35 mins): short monologues, interviews and passages. 5 extra minutes are given for answer sheet marking after listening section.
2. Reading (50 items, 50 mins): sentence‑error identification, gap‑fill, sentence‑insertion and passage comprehension.
3. Writing (1 task, 45 mins): text summary. Test‑takers need to condense a given article into around 400 Chinese characters with a self‑given title.

Test Purposes

1. Reference for university admission, class placement, course exemption and credit evaluation.
2. Reference for recruitment, staff assessment and promotion for employers.
3. Self‑assessment for Chinese‑language learners.
4. Evaluation of teaching outcomes for Chinese training institutions.

Official score reports will be issued within 3 weeks after the examination.
